As this infographic from the ACA clearly indicates: Opioid painkiller drugs mask pain, they do not cure it! Prescription drugs that numb pain in some cases may convince a patient that a musculoskeletal condition is less severe than it is, or that it has healed.
This misunderstanding can lead to over-exertion and a delay in the healing process, or even to permanent injury.
Chiropractic physicians are skilled in the most conservative treatment methods to alleviate pain and urge patients and other health care providers, where appropriate, to exhaust these options before resorting to riskier and more invasive treatments such as drugs and surgery.
On November 16, 2015 the U.S. Senate passed legislation that expands chiropractic treatment to more veterans. The Program for Provision of Chiropractic Care and Services to Veterans calls for the chiropractic benefit to be carried out at: Continue reading Chiropractic Care Expanded to More Veterans

Continuing from Part 1 of our blog series entitled “Research Shows Chiropractic Care Effective“, perhaps the best evidence of care from a chiropractor being effective came from the Quebec Automobile Insurance Society. They insure all care in Quebec and pay so many whiplash claims that they commissioned a task force to study all scientific information on the care of whiplash.
After 3 years reviewing 10,382 articles on neck injuries, they recommended spinal manipulation (which chiropractic doctors call adjustments). The majority of remedies commonly used were rejected as having not even been studied scientifically, including: Continue reading Research Shows Chiropractic Care Effective (Part 2)

A study comparing gender in whiplash injuries concluded: “This population is more likely to be injured under whiplash loading”. Women are also more likely to suffer chronic (long lasting) symptoms from such accidents even with low-speed impacts. A study found that once injured, women are between 2 to 2.3 times more likely than men to have chronic symptoms.
Fortunately another study found that women who visit a chiropractor shortly after injury may have better outcomes than those who wait. Continue reading Women and Whiplash
